To Know HimI grew up under the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. As I have grown older, my appreciation for the light and life in their ministry has gradually increased.
Probably the most weighty thing about their teaching is that the teachings are not their own but those of the Bible. Because of this factor, their opening of the Word has enlightened me as to my experience of the Lord in the Word time after time. Many times I may experience something that is unclear to me, yet their exposition of the Word shines on that experience, making it clear to me.
Another characteristic of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee's ministry is that they have always focused and centered on Christ. My daily experiences of Christ living within me have been greatly increased from reading their books.
One particular experience I would like to share with you is that of moving to Russia in 1992 with my family to preach the gospel and shepherd the young Christians in that country. While there with my family, I witnessed hundreds of Russians' lives drastically changed. Prior to receiving the Lord, they had suffered vainly under communism and its residual effects. Yet after they had received the gospel, began meeting with us and reading the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, these same sufferings became opportunities for them to experience, enjoy, know, and gain Christ. I saw their eyes opened to see Christ as they had never seen Him before, and to be brought into the joy and release of the “fellowship of His sufferings.” (Philippians 3:10)
I praise the Lord for the ministry of these two brothers who paid the price to gain Christ in the deepest way. Their lives have issued in an outflow of Christ to others, even all the way to Russia.
